Whether you're planning a residential stay, a course, or group getaway, Ampleforth College offers a warm and welcoming setting during the school holidays. With space for up to 575 guests, our nine traditional boarding houses provide a range of room types—including single, twin, and dormitory-style options, some with en-suite facilities.

Each house includes:

• Access to a shared kitchen and comfortable social spaces
• A private chapel for reflection or group use

Guests also have use of the College’s extensive function rooms and sports facilities, ideal for events, workshops, and recreational activities.

Term-Time Accommodation: Becket House

For smaller groups or visiting guests during term time, Becket House is available on the edge of campus. This self-contained facility sleeps up to 46 and includes:

• A private kitchen and spacious common room
• Dedicated study and games rooms
• Outdoor space for relaxation or activities

Becket House offers a peaceful, practical base—perfect for school groups, or short stays throughout the academic year.

Ampleforth is also ideally situated for exploring some of North Yorkshire’s most popular attractions.

We’re just a short drive from the historic city of York, with its iconic Minster, mediaeval walls, and vibrant shopping and dining scene. To the east, the atmospheric coastal town of Whitby offers dramatic cliffs, sandy beaches, and a rich maritime history.
